1. Open Outlook > File > Options > Mail > Under Conversation Clean up, Uncheck When a reply modifies a message, don't move the original > Restart Outlook (it is is already unchecked, bank check information technology Restart Outlook, Uncheck information technology and Restart Outlook)
2. If above doesn't work, uncheck all options nether Chat Clean Up
3. Account Settings > Open your account > More settings > Under Advanced tab, put INBOX in Root Folder Path. (If your all folders disappear, merely remove INBOX from here)

This is a known result with IMAP accounts. The change (read state) needs to sync with the server before you tin can move information technology, which only takes a dissever second, simply outlook keeps a hold on the message until you lot switch messages.

Diane, I wish switching letters were the solution. but it only works sometimes on some servers. It's just a nuisance to me, only it makes me hesitate to recommend Outlook and IMAP to my clients, who unremarkably take less tolerance for unusability than I do.

It seems, if you lot alter the previous messages in the chain, the outlook will not let you send the electronic mail.
its a really skilful feature that you tin can trust an outlook electronic mail that no one changed the content on forwarding/replying electronic mail .

Your suggestion really does not provide a solution - I was so frustrated with information technology that I performed an online repair of Office 2016 which involved uninstalling and reinstalling the application - that solved information technology - it's behaving now.
